I know that all I do is take screenshots of my desktop quietly evolving but its worth it. This time I have the beautiful snowglitch by `netghost

I have enabled three separate "shelves" on the desktop (just containers for the items). Nice and simple, its all I look for.

I've never used a system like the Unix/Linux before and just by the looks of it, its a far cry from Windows. I'm currently using Windows Vista which is still a bit different from Windows XP.

ah yes well, this has been setup intentionally removed from the tonnes of eye candy that is available. mainly because I am not interested in bling. i am very much a terminal user (hence my choice in irssi).

I don't require much of anything except a nice background, a simple icon bar, a clock and a terminal!

you should investigate xgl / beryl based desktops that provide literally tonnes of candy (certainly on a par if not better than aero).
